Gallatin Valley Montana based non-profit doula and birth educator group which works to provide women and families with resources for safe and empowered birth experiences and post-partum support. A group of doulas and myself began this group in August 2006. We help support each other in our own birth adventures and lend back-up support for doula care, as well as community outreach. If you work with pregnant and new families and would like to join us, please contact me.
Last year we began our annual Birth Art Exhibit in May 2007 and brought the highly acclaimed film, The Business of Being Born, to the Bozeman Film Festival in November 2007 to increase awareness about the medicalization of birth and to honor our friend Karen Sclafani Maffly, who died after the birth of her baby daughter in 2004. Our 2nd annual Celebrating Birth Art Exhibit and showings of The Business of Being Born were a huge success on June 28th, 2008. Look for updates about our upcoming book club, beginning in July.
