Why do parents choose to keep their son intact?
- none of the reasons for circumcising apply or seem relevant to them
- they don’t want to cause the baby pain (either on day 2 of his life, or later)
- they don’t believe it is ethical, i.e. the baby can’t consent to a legally cosmetic surgical procedure
- they worry about the risks
- they don’t believe it is natural or it doesn’t fit with their parenting beliefs
- they believe there are benefits to an intact foreskin
- they are choosing to let their son decide for himself what he wants for his body
- they don’t want their baby’s foreskin sold to a medical engineering company to make artificial skin or expensive wrinkle cream
